Active and Sustainable Travel for your Workplace
Free Support Packages available

Segensworth Business Forum has come together with My Journey, Hampshire County Council, Sustrans, Living Streets and Love to Ride to create a package of support for active and sustainable travel at your workplace.

What support can we offer?

Improve Air Quality

If you are interested in making a positive impact on air quality around your site, we have a collection of high-quality promotional materials highlighting the simple ways people can help to and reduce air pollution and avoid breathing harmful fumes.

Planting for Cleaner Air

Money is available for planting trees and vegetation at your site that can have a positive impact on air quality, carbon reduction and reduce noise pollution.

Grant funding for sustainable travel

Money to make changes to your site so that active travel is more realistic (such as cycle storage or showers), to support staff travelling actively (such as setting up a cycle to work scheme) or facilitating remote working (including buying hardware & software).

Site surveys

Remote or in-person surveys of your site, and how you get to your site from key transport hubs to assess how well it supports sustainable travel.

Travel Action Plans

Following on from the site survey, a comprehensive report is available, making recommendations for changes to infrastructure and policies that would support sustainable travel. This can be used as support for a grant application.

Delivery Service Plans

Delivery Service Plans are a detailed examination of how an organisation gets goods and services on, and off, their site. Recommendations are made as to how a company can reduce the number of journeys being made, saving time and money.

Active Travel Policy support

This is support in writing or updating policies so that they encourage active travel to, and for, work whilst being aware of liability concerns that may arise.

Staff travel surveys

How do your staff currently travel? Which staff are working from home? What motivates them, and what might persuade them to change? Support can be given to design and conduction staff surveys.

Workplace Travel Network

The Workplace Travel Network is a quarterly gathering of businesses from across the Solent Region to share their experiences of working towards transport sustainability. Hear about the latest updates, learn from others’ experiences and ask difficult questions.

Active travel events

Delivery of a variety of events to promote and support active travel. Pledge events give staff a chance to volunteer a change they will make. Led walks and cycles show staff good routes near the workplace are. Active travel breakfasts reward staff who have walked, scooted, run or cycled with food.

Bike Doctor

The bike doctor can fix staff bikes for free and can supply cycling essentials at heavily discounted costs, so staff are properly kitted out for their commute.

Cycle confidence skills

Gain confidence with bespoke cycling confidence sessions. Delivered to groups at your business or as 1:1 sessions with your staff.

Love to Ride

Love to Ride is an online platform that encourages people to cycle, and encourage others to cycle, through competitions and giveaways.

Journey planning clinics

Individual support via video meetings. The clinics provide tailored support to help people find routes, training or support groups that will help them get where they want to go safely & easily.

Walk Champion training

A champion within an organisation can support and encourage colleagues to walk in and around the working day – whether that’s to and from the office or while at home. Champion training helps volunteers to harness their enthusiasm in the most effective way and help to create a culture of walking and establish healthy habits.

Walking and cycling maps and materials

A variety of bespoke materials for your workplace that highlight safe, high quality routes for walking and cycling, highlighting the wellbeing benefits of being active outside. Conduct route audits to find the best routes. These materials include posters, interactive digital mapping, downloadable routes and walking zone maps.

These activities will need to adhere to latest government and business guidance.
Make working from home work for you

A self-contained campaign to promote wellbeing whilst working from home, ideal for internal social media. A collection of 12 simple tips in shareable social images, accompanied by a poster version with all 12 tips.

Virtual Active Steps

For staff who are not in the office, this programme helps them embed activity in their routine over several weeks, so they are more ready to travel actively when they return to the office.

Communication support to encourage walking and cycling

Motivational messages and ideas to get people out walking and cycling – whether they are working from home or in the office – delivered via print, digital, email, social, across a chosen period (week, fortnight, month). This includes the digital pledge event, where staff can make a pledge to walk and cycle more.
