An Extra Evening Bus For Segensworth

We are pleased to announce a new journey financially supported by the

Segensworth Business Forum will now provide an opportunity to catch a later bus home from work.

The extra service will start on the 23rd January 2012 and will run to Fareham Bus station, leaving Segensworth Road at 6:18 in the evening.

This new service represents a further response to the concerns of Segensworth businesses. It will initially run until the end of the year. If successful, it will become an annual agreement as part of our continuing plans to improve the access onto the estates.

Access Improvements Agreed

SBF have agreed with Hampshire County Council to proceed with an upgrade to the underpass linking Segensworth East and West and to provide new pavements at Barnes Wallis Road and Brunel Way.

These improvements will offer a safe and sustainable means of walking and cycling access to Segensworth, through the extension of the existing pedestrian and cycling infrastructure within the Segensworth East and Segensworth West Estates.

The project will include:

Ø       the provision of a 2.5 metre wide bituminous surfaced shared pedestrian and cycle facility with street lighting along the existing track and public right of way between Little Park Farm Road in Segensworth West and the western end of Brunel Way in Segensworth East.

Ø       the provision of a 1.8 metre wide bituminous pedestrian footway along the north side of Barnes Wallis Road between Drummond Road and Brunel Way in Segensworth East.

Ø       the provision of a 1.8 metre wide bituminous footway along the south side of Brunel Way between Drummond Road and Barnes Wallis Road in Segensworth East.

It is hoped to start work in July this year. More details will follow.

Severe Weather Plan for Segensworth

Segensworth Business Forum is delighted to announce that we have put into place an estate wide winter severe weather plan.

Working with Segensworth based Quattro Winter Maintenance Division we have agreed a program that will see the estate roads gritted during periods of severe icy weather. In the event of snow, the roads will be cleared and gritted.

Following the disruption caused during the bad weather experienced last year, this represents a significant response to the concerns of Segensworth businesses.  It is intended that this will be an annual agreement as part of our continuing plans to improve the working environment throughout the estates.

The program will run from 19th December 2011 until 30th March 2012.
